Summary of Activity

In Greenland, O4O is working with the communities of Nuuk, Tasiilaq, Paamiut and Ittoqqortoormiit and the four settlements Arsuk, Kuumiut, Kulusuk and Qeqertarsuatsiaat.

Greenland have conducted a questionnaire survey of older people, and interviews with over 55s, in communities to find out about older people’s current participation in activities, their perceptions of wellbeing, what older people would like to do to help each other, willingness to volunteer and what people expect of service provision. So far, over 500 responses to the survey has been recived.

The O4O Greenland team have conducted a series of community public meetings and interviews with older people. This will allow the municipality to consider how to provide services and how to support the development of voluntary services. The community meetings have been used to establish O4O groups of citizens within the villages that will then develop O4O voluntary organisations.

O4O Greenland has produced a detailed report on the progress of the project, including survey results, interviews and details of community meetings. The report can be found HERE.

Results of the first meeting with older people in the town of Nuuk can be viewed HERE. The meeting took place on June 17, 2009.
